When chronic pain sufferers have nowhere else to turn, others are given a great opportunity... We can truly make a difference if we work together!

The National Network for Chronic Intractable Pain "Chronic pain is a national epidemic; please help us in getting patients properly treated so they can again lead productive lives and experience their days without suffering..."

Our network of doctors

NNCIP was established as a telemedicine health network for uninsured chronic pain patients to connect with doctors in their area who can treat them. All of the patients who use our network have a documented history of chronic or intractable pain and are using some type of proven opioid therapy along with other alternative methods which assist them in leading productive lives. Without our assistance, patients often feel helpless and abandoned which frequently leads to other severe illnesses like anxiety and depression.

Our ability to facilitate these patients’ needs gives doctors a great opportunity to join our network and help patients while not having the burden of dealing with insurance companies or managing patients’ payments. Additionally, NNCIP has dedicated records specialist who verify patient documents before they are brought to the physicians’ office giving the doctor more time and focus to treat the patients’ condition.

NNCIP seeks doctors who understand the positive use of opioid therapy along with other proven alternative techniques while still being very conscious of all federal and state prescribing guidelines.

How the process works

NNCIP has developed a state of the art, HIPPA Compliant, web-based EMR program for patients to register online and be scheduled to see a doctor from the NNCIP network in their local area. Once patients have been registered, NNCIP uses a stringent pre-screening process supervised by licensed doctors and dedicated medical records specialist.

Once a patient has been pre-screened and their records are verified, they are schedule to see the doctor in their local area for a face to face consultation. The patient then prepays NNCIP and brings their original medical records to the doctors’ office for review. Once the doctor has diagnosed the patient and documents the clinical data on our web-based EMR program, payment is authorized for the doctor and distributed on a bi-weekly basis via bank wire or check.

Doctor compensation

Doctors are paid $120 for initial and annual consultations, $20 per rescript/review, and $40 for telemedicine consultation. Since all patients are non-insured and elect to pay cash, we are able to promptly forward payment to the doctor without the trademark billing hassles experienced with insurance companies. Doctors can elect to use a P.A. at their discretion but must be done under their supervision as to establish and keep a bona fide doctor-patient relationship mandated by federal and state agencies.

Our belief on chronic intractable pain treatment

Intractable pain patients are under treated and need a better overall solution to obtain and maintain appropriate treatment. Over the past several years, patients have been forced to seek alternative means e.g. Online Consultation services, (“OCS”) that offer phone consultations for patients with traceable medical records. The percentage of Internet diversion is not significantly higher than traditional methods. Both primary and specialized clinicians are, however, under significant scrutiny by the DEA concerning opioid based treatments.

The DEA is proposing stricter regulations in an effort to reduce diversion. Although these restrictions may prove to reduce diversion, they have also adversely affected the treatment availability of existing patients and do not address the underlying problem which we believe has more to do with patient identity then any misdiagnosis resulting from a non face to face examination.

In cases where patients have exhausted every alternative means of treatment and are still suffering from intractable pain and where consistent use of opioids is the last resort, patients will depend on the timely accurate dispensation of medications.

An estimated 50,000,000 Americans suffer from chronic pain every day! The search for relief can be a long and insufferable journey leaving many patients homebound or unable to lead a productive life.

Treatment may include a regiment of activities and medications just to keep going. Many doctors believe that certification in pain specialization usually leads to more regulations, complications and ultimately frustration for the suffering patients.

Physicians and pharmacists are under increasing pressure from the Drug Enforcement Agency, DEA and state medical boards to comply with more restrictive policy when prescribing controlled pain medications.

What is the solution?

A new breed of doctors specializing in pain management has arisen to offer pain sufferers hope in what seems to many like an incurable dilemma.

A variety of new medications have also been developed to help when nothing else seems to work.

Many patients undergo physical therapy, rehabilitation or surgery to alleviate their pain.

Patients seeking treatment for their pain are often told to look for a doctor who specializes in one of several pain management disciplines; anesthesia, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or psychiatry.

They are also told to look for Physicians with special training and board certification by an approved authority like the American Board of Medial Specialists, ABMS.
